Why install irrigation
Premium Grass and Plants
It's not enough to have the right plants and sod, they need to be properly maintained to look their best. The luscious look of a well irrigated lawn and plant beds will level up any landscape. If you want the best looking yard around, it'll benefit from an irrigation system.
New Sod/Plants
Keeping fresh sod and new plants healthy in the heat of a North Georgia summer takes a lot of water. If you are planning an extensive plant or sod installation, consider how much more enjoyable your landscape will be if you have a properly tuned and scheduled irrigation system so you don't have to drag around a hose night and day.
Vacation
Irrigation systems can be programmed to follow a schedule. In fact, with a simple wifi upgrade, irrigation systems can be controlled remotely from a phone app. How much easier will it be to take a vacation when you don't have to worry about any watering?

Planning
Good irrigation requires meticulous planning. The location of each spray head, the number of zones required, type of controller, and type of irrigation for each zone must be determined before installation. For more info about design, check out our design and build page. Installing the Controller Controllers can be installed indoor or outdoor, depending on the type of box supplied. Controllers should be capable of more than the amount of zones planned for install. That allows the homeowner to expand the irrigation system in the future without replacing the controller. Location must be by an outlet, so the controller can be plugged in. Installing it is as simple as mounting it with a few screws and plugging it in. Mark Location for Irrigation Heads Identifying where each irrigation head will be installed reveals where lines should be trenched. Trench the Lines Take careful note that all utilities have been marked by this point, so that no damage will be done to underground utilities. We use a tracked trencher to dig our lines to 12" deep for irrigation lines. Any trenching that is near utilities must be dug by hand with our trenching shovels. Licensed Plumber Connects to Waterline It is illegal to do plumbing work on a waterline to a house without being a licensed plumber. Therefore, we bring in a licensed plumber to T into the main line and add a shut-off valve. This allows us to connect our irrigation system. Install the System Installing the system is fairly complicated. To put it simply, pvc pipes are run to each zone of irrigation, which connects to all the irrigation heads that are specific to that zone. Then, we wire it all up, and install the heads. There is a lot more to it, but that's the simple explanation. Backfilling Once the system is installed, we put dirt on top of the pvc lines in the trench, backfilling the system. |
